课程特征 Course Features:
The LL.M programme offers several specialist streams. However, those students who want to take full advantage of the School's impressively wide range of course units on offer in any year can choose to take the programme without any specialisation at all.
Students are therefore afforded the opportunity to decide which aspects of the law will have the most relevance to their own future professional or academic career, and to choose accordingly the subjects that will make up their programme of study. This offers students the most flexible way to pursue their programme of advanced legal study, and will suit those who do not want to limit themselves to just one particular aspect of the law. The programme's compulsory research element (see Module Details) will allow students to develop their research skills and deepen their understanding on specific areas within their own choice of subjects.

Module details
The LL.M programme will typically offer more than 30 different course units in any one year, and will always reflect a wide range of subjects across the legal spectrum. There will usually be course units offered on such diverse topics as commercial law, European law, economic law, environmental law, intellectual property law, human rights law, corporate governance, health law, and the laws affecting development.
Course units are of the value of 15 or 30 credits. Students have to select course units to a total of 120 credits, and so must choose a minimum of four course units or may be able to choose a maximum of eight course units to make up their programme of study.
The programme has a compulsory research component, in which students submit two research papers of 7,000-8,000 words each (and each of the value of 30 credits). One research paper must be within the area of a semester one course unit that you have chosen, and one research paper must be within the area of a semester two course unit that you have chosen. The research element of the programme is supported by weekly lectures delivered throughout semesters one and two designed to improve students' legal writing and research skills.
教学与评估 Teaching and Assessment:
Course units are usually assessed by either one unseen written examination, or one coursework essay, or a combination of these two methods of assessment.
Students must also submit two research papers for the LL.M degree (one research paper submitted in April, and one submitted in September).
