Designed in collaboration with industry professionals this course concentrates on the economic analysis of financial issues, financial products and international financial markets - focussing on the models and techniques of financial analysis.
The emphasis is on applying knowledge, skills and techniques to analysing the instruments, participants and markets in international finance. During the programme you will be able to pursue specialist modules in the field of international finance and economics.
Students have the opportunity to do an in-company consultancy project and apply for and complete a three-month internship in a relevant company.
We have recently introduced a new framework for our full-time Masters programme, covering some significant and exciting developments that have come about through consultation with our students, staff and alumni.* The new framework will facilitate greater engagement with external businesses and organisations, leading to an enhanced student learning experience.

The emphasis adopted in this course is the analysis of contemporary issues in international finance including the analysis of information in finance, derivatives markets, portfolio and investment management and the econometric modelling of economic and financial variables.
Students will study aspects of all these issues through the compulsory modules on the course and the option modules chosen will enable students to analyse specific areas of interest more deeply.

Study and support
The modules are taught sequentially with intensive block teaching over the course of a week followed by a period of independent study, including assignment preparation and completion.
A range of teaching and learning methods are used in the intensive block teaching period depending on the module being studied. These methods include large group teaching, small group tutorials, research supervision, interactive teaching, industry-specific workshops (involving guest speakers, project work, etc), eSupported learning, guided and directed individual and group study and a variety of multimedia approaches.

Opportunities for progression
Graduates from this course can work in the finance and economics sectors in careers relating to banking and financial markets including central banking, investment banking, pensions analysis, unit and investment trust management, corporate finance and international finance. Graduates can also pursue academic research in the UK or further afield.

As part of the course, careers advisers will run a series of workshops, where students can identify methods and strategies to enable them to effectively pursue their career goals.
