课程特征 Course Features:
The Department of Educational Studies offers a one-year (12 month) taught full-time MA in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) programme. This MA programme is designed for students who plan to teach English as a second or foreign language in the UK or internationally, or who plan to do research on the teaching, learning or assessment of English as a second or foreign language.
Although prior experience of teaching and a relevant first degree are an asset, this programme is designed for those with little or no prior experience, or with a first degree which is in a subject other than English or Linguistics. It is an academic programme of study and not a teacher training course. Theories of language acquisition and language teaching are explored, with the emphasis on how such theories may be practically applied; however, there is no teaching practicum as part of this programme. Applications are welcomed from both home and international students.
Please see the Graduate School application pages for information on admissions procedures.
