教学与评估 Teaching and Assessment:
Students will enrol on a series of taught modules, in which they will be exposed to material through lectures, workshops, fieldwork and independent reading and study taught by practicing planners as well as academics. Assessments include professional- standard reports that will give students the opportunity to convey their depth of understanding of important themes as well as seminar presentations and workshops. The assignments will reflect real world planning situations in order to provide a professionally oriented introduction to a career in planning.
职业机会 Career Opportunities:
The programme addresses a recognised skills shortage in planning and provides an ideal foundation for developing or enhancing a professional career in planning in the public (local authorities and government agencies) private (developers and consultancies), or voluntary sectors. The programme has received provisional accreditation from the Royal Town Planning Institute and aims to secure full accreditation in 2011. When this is achieved graduates will be eligible to gain 'Chartered Town Planner' status after a further two-year period of experience and Assessment of Professional Competence.
