The course has been structured to enable students to focus on their chosen design specialism. It comprises three related elements: a choice of taught modules to develop a range of conceptual and practical design tools; a specialist design project chosen by the student and negotiated with staff in which the tools and skills are applied; a reflective report or dissertation in which students critically reflect on the design project and the application of the design tools.
You may choose to study from a wide range of specialist areas through the negotiated project. These include: fashion design; structured textile design; graphic design; multi-media design; design management; product design; fashion marketing and printed textile design.
Core modules include Research Methodology, a negotiated project and a reflective report/dissertation. Optional modules include IT and Communication, Design Issues, Sustainable Design and Marketing for Designers. Note: The Sustainable Design module is a core module in the MSc Design.
