Celebrating and challenging graphic art
Whatever your interest in Graphic Design, our cross-disciplinary approach embraces the many aspects of Graphic design practice. This MA encourages you to explore these diverse aspects and includes typography, new media, motion graphic design, art direction, interactive design, illustration, branding and identity, and graphic arts. Theory and practice within the local and global contexts of design are integrated and questioned.
We are committed to the development of international influences in cross-cultural exchange. We aim to recruit a diverse range of talented individuals to meet and discuss ideas, giving the course an international global perspective.
We offer a great variety of MA titles, but best of all we give you the opportunity to work in a truly transdisciplinary environment. NTU gives MA students their own designated space, where you can meet students from different subject areas and obtain information and support from an MA coordinator and administrator. This makes it easy for you to work with your fellow students, learning the skills of collaborative and inter-cultural sensitivity.

This modular MA is designed to offer a framework for advanced study and to develop core skills in a number of areas, including
•research methodologies
•the professional and cultural contextualisation of work
•practical project experimentation and realisation
•critical and reflective evaluation.
All skills developed progressively equip students for the culmination of a major MA Individual or Group Research Project.
Modules are delivered to encourage interdisciplinarity. The Research and Methodology module for example is delivered to the entire postgraduate community, thus giving students the opportunity for an exchange of ideas and analysis. This form of dialogue is crucial for the development of new thinking and new directions in art and design.

Assessment is carried out via coursework at the end of each stage, culminating in an exposition of students' work towards the end of the course.

Connecting with the design industry is incredibly important and we have excellent links. Our courses feature guest lectures from renowned designers who also set mini-projects as part of workshops. Such links are vital in helping you make future contacts and enhance your awareness of the design profession.
