课程特征 Course Features：
The aim is the bring you in 12 months to a position where you can embark with confidence on a wide range of careers, including taking a PhD in a wide range of mathematical or physical sciences. Indeed, five graduates of this degree are currently taking a PhD in an English university.
课程内容 Course Content ：
For eight months you choose from a substantial number of taught courses, mainly from our level four undergraduate modules, and for the final four months you undertake a dissertation, which enables you to study an area in depth while gaining experience in the writing of mathematics.
In 2010/11, your taught courses will consist of six courses selected from Advanced Quantum Theory, Algebraic Topology, Approximation Theory and Solutions of ODE, Differential Geometry, Elliptic Functions, Galois Theory, Geometry, Number Theory, Partial Differential Equations, Probability, Riemannian Geometry, Solitons, Topology. In addition, there will be some special courses selected by the department in September, when we know more about the students who are coming to take the MSc. Your dissertation will normally follow on from one of your taught courses.
教学与评估 Teaching and Assessment：
Each taught unit is assessed by a single examination in May/June. Your dissertation is marked independently by two members of staff, and the final mark arrived at by a moderating process. All examination marks are subject to confirmation by the External Examiner, and approval by the Board of Examiners.
