To enable students to pursue individual interests within English literary studies, from the Anglo-Saxon period to the present day. Students will also acquire advanced research skills to enable independent scholarly enquiry.

•Cities of Words
•Dissertation – either 20 000 words or 30 000 words depending on other modules chosen

•Gender and Sexuality in Medieval European Literature
•English Books and Texts: 1060 to 1220
•Classical and post-Classical Latin
•Literary Journeys 1500-1700
•Literary Journeys 1700-1830
•Managing Knowledge: Dictionaries and Ideology
•Lexicology and Lexicography
教学与评估 Teaching and Assessment：
The dissertation is individually supervised and separately assessed. All other modules are taught by diverse methods in seminars or tutorial groups and assessed by essay.
