The MA in Design: Management and Policy focuses on howhuman-centred design thinking can address tomorrow's challenges and prepares students for leadership roles via projects that require complex problem solving skills and explores new directions for products, services and systems. Our course considers the role of design in the many arenas in which it is employed and supports design research and creative insights into, for, and through design. An investigation of the role of design in commercial contexts is supported by a programme of case studies, live projects, visiting professionals, and placement opportunities. It concludes with a major research project.
The course is suitable for design and associated graduates who want to develop additional skills and modes of thinking required in design management, design research, design leadership and design policy. It prepares you for higher research degrees, and careers as design consultants, managers and policy makers in both private and public organisations across sectors such as manufacturing, retail, construction, government, health and education.
