This programme explores the key debates and issues in film theory and cultural analysis, ranging from classic film theory texts through to recent writings on film and contemporary culture. The option modules offer the opportunity to explore in greater detail areas such as contemporary film-philosophy; cinema, politics and ideology; psychoanalytic film theory; transnational and world cinemas; avant-garde cinema; genre theory; film and cultural history.
This interdisciplinary programme is suitable for those with backgrounds in a variety of humanities and social science disciplines, as well as students who have studied Media, Film or Cultural Studies at undergraduate level.
