The programme aims to develop and enhance:
understanding of the nature and purpose of community education practice, building upon students' prior experience;
understanding of power and empowerment and the ways in which these ideas may guide their professional actions;
the commitment to be self-monitoring;
the ability to locate their work as educators in the context of community, policy and society;
the capacity to cooperate with colleagues and across professional boundaries;
the cultivation of intellectual and other capacities that characterise the educated professional;
a commitment to continuing professional development.

Professional Practice (includes one block placement - 9 weeks)
Politics, Policy and Professional Identity in Community Education
Community Education: History, Ideology and Practice
Elective courses
To ensure students have the opportunity to develop a degree of special focus within the programme they will choose one Elective A Course from the BA in Community Education programme:

These courses will be supplemented by a further one from postgraduate programmes within Moray House School of Education or from Category A and Category B courses.
