The MEd/Postgraduate Diploma in Education is an outstanding programme offering postgraduate opportunities for professional development to education and learning professionals. Students may work to an individually constructed programme, but most students work on specialist pathways which include:
•Counselling in Education
•Educational Leadership, Policy and Development
•Mathematics Education
•Psychology of Education (including a British Psychological Society (BPS) accredited conversion course)
•Special Education
A total of 180 credit points (120 for coursework and a further 60 credit points for the dissertation) are necessary for the award of the MEd degree. You may also select units from other M level programmes offered in the Graduate School of Education or elsewhere in the Faculty. An M-level credit transfer scheme operates for UK graduates. All pathways offer the opportunity for further study at MPhil/PhD or EdD level.
Counselling in Education
This pathway is designed to enable students from a range of educational contexts to develop their knowledge and understanding of the ways in which theories, principles and practices of counselling can be used to support the personal and academic development of learners

Mathematics Education
This pathway is designed for both UK and overseas teachers of mathematics and other professionals working in mathematics education, from primary schools to post-16 education.

•Curriculum Design and Development in School Mathematics
•Teaching and Learning in Mathematics
and either
•Children Learning Mathematics - School-based Inquiry (full time students)

Remaining 20 credits from either:
•New Technologies in Mathematics Education
or from elsewhere in Masters programmes.
Psychology of Education
This pathway is both a Master's degree and a conversion course in psychology for students wishing to obtain Graduate Basis for Registration with the British Psychological Society (BPS), who need not to be education professionals. The BPS-specified route is as follows. Other students do fewer core and more optional units.

•Controversial Issues in Special and Inclusive Education
•Current National and International Developments in Inclusive and Special Education
