学术要求:
MSc Normally a 2.2 Honours degree or above in a relevant Science, Engineering, Management or Social Science discipline, or equivalent recognised qualification.

•IELTS* score of 6.5, with not less than 5.5 in any component, or
•TOEFL* score of 92 (Internet-based test) with minimum scores of 21 for Listening, 22 for Reading, 23 for Speaking and 21 for Writing

•To develop the intellectual, practical, and professional skills of the learner in the critical acquisition, analysis, interpretation and understanding of management of construction projects and organisations
•To apply appropriate theoretical and practical management methods in the analysis and solution of design, engineering and construction problems

•To develop a holistic approach by integrating the technical knowledge of design, engineering and construction with financial, legal, IT, commercial leadership and managerial skills of business administration in the management of simple to complex projects (project conception, design management, procurement, construction engineering and maintenance); and construction organisations (construction economics and finance, strategic management, information systems, construction law, international construction markets and competitive advantage)
•To develop critical and analytical problem-solving skills across a broad range of subjects and transferable skills that relate to literacy, numeracy, computing, teamwork, group work, and personal presentations and interactions to prepare graduates for more general employment
•To serve as an excellent introduction and training for further research leading to the degree of PhD and participate in the research activities of a world-class research centre of the University

The degree has been accredited by:
•Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) to meet the academic requirements for Chartered Membership

•Joint Board of Moderators of the Institution of Civil Engineers, Institution of Structural Engineers and Institution of Highways and Transportation Engineers as a period of Further Learning (Matching Section) enabling BEng graduates to meet the academic requirements for Chartered Engineer status

Individual Research Project (Dissertation)

Every module can be taken individually or as a part of an MSc degree programme or Postgraduate Diploma programme. Part-time students may arrange their programme, subject to timetabling and arrangement with the programme co-ordinator. The final four months of the programme will be dedicated to an individual research project.

Early in the year, students will be able to designate a preferred specialist area, which they will be able to pursue in the context of their menu of optional modules and the individual research project.

Students matriculating from the joint programme with other universities will be granted programme credit for four modules taken at that university.

 
教学与评估 Teaching and Assessment:

•Overall ratio of coursework: unseen examinations is 50:50
•Assessment is carried out in January and May
•Written dissertation/thesis

Students on the MSc programme, who have achieved a minimum of 50 per cent in the compulsory modules and an average of 50 per cent or greater overall in the taught programme, are required to undertake a project and submit a dissertation in September. This dissertation must be passed at 50 per cent for the award of the MSc. Students who achieve an average of 65 per cent or more in the taught programme and also 70 per cent or more for the dissertation with an overall average of 70 per cent or more will be awarded a Distinction.

The distinctive needs of the construction sector for management personnel at all levels offer excellent career opportunities for graduates of this programme as a project manager, contract manager, design manager, project architect, project engineer, planner or expert witness, with design and construction companies, project management consultants, real estate firms and government agencies amongst others. You will also be well prepared to begin PhD research programmes, which may lead to careers in research establishments and universities.
