Individual Research Project (Dissertation)
Every module can be taken individually or as a part of an MSc degree programme or Postgraduate Diploma programme. Part-time students may arrange their programme, subject to timetabling and arrangement with the programme co-ordinator. The final four months of the programme will be dedicated to an individual research project.
Early in the year, students will be able to designate a preferred specialist area, which they will be able to pursue in the context of their menu of optional modules and the individual research project.
Students matriculating from the joint programme with other universities will be granted programme credit for four modules taken at that university.

•Overall ratio of coursework: unseen examinations is 50:50
•Assessment is carried out in January and May
•Written dissertation/thesis
Students on the MSc programme, who have achieved a minimum of 50 per cent in the compulsory modules and an average of 50 per cent or greater overall in the taught programme, are required to undertake a project and submit a dissertation in September. This dissertation must be passed at 50 per cent for the award of the MSc. Students who achieve an average of 65 per cent or more in the taught programme and also 70 per cent or more for the dissertation with an overall average of 70 per cent or more will be awarded a Distinction.

The distinctive needs of the construction sector for management personnel at all levels offer excellent career opportunities for graduates of this programme as a project manager, contract manager, design manager, project architect, project engineer, planner or expert witness, with design and construction companies, project management consultants, real estate firms and government agencies amongst others. You will also be well prepared to begin PhD research programmes, which may lead to careers in research establishments and universities.
