The growth of the internet as an IT environment for commercial transaction and information exchange has placed additional burdens on IT teams in organisations, requiring that network technicians and managers be aware both of the infrastructure of networks and the enabling technologies.
The course is designed to equip computing graduates and practitioners with the advanced management and technical skills to analyse, model, design and evaluate network-based systems, to an advanced, professional standard, underpinned by rigorous approaches and methods to network management and systems development.

You will need to complete all modules to progress onto the Project.
The course includes the following topics:
- Professional Issues and Research Methods
- Modelling Methods for Software Engineering and Development
- Applications Development in Emerging Areas (eg Mobile, Internet)
- Issues around Wen and Network Services Management
- Project and Change Management Methods
- Network Security and Management
- Team-based Company-led project
You will then undertake a Major Research Project which is supervised by a member of staff, many of whom are internationally recognised experts in their field. Your project will focus on an information systems related problem - often in-company.
