Today, any organisation’s commercial work systems are inextricably linked to the technology that supports them. The growth of the internet and mobile industries as IT environments for commercial transaction, information exchange and social media has placed additional burdens on IT teams in organisations, requiring that web specialists be aware both of the infrastructure of the internet/mobile networks and the enabling internet/mobile technologies that support all information and communication channels to and from customers and suppliers. The need for applications to deploy across intranets, extranets, mobile devices and the internet is now in major demand in the computing field. This perspective reflects the view adopted by employers in the IT industry seeking to recruit people who have the required technical competence in the field of applied IT, the necessary appreciation of different web-based systems and the personal and professional competences to be effective developers and administrators of such complex web and mobile applications.
课程内容 Course Content ：
You will need to complete all modules to progress onto the Individual Project.
We start with an intensive Induction period to bring your academic study and research skills up to postgraduate standard before embarking on a range of taught modules designed to equip you with the right knowledge and abilities for careers in the web arena.
These are:
- Effective Research Practice at Master's Level and Beyond
- Modelling and Management of Complex Information Systems
- Developing Internet-Based Applications
- Designing and Developing Usable Web and Mobile Applications
- Methods for Handling Large-scale IT Projects and Change
- An In-Company, Team Project
The final in-company project will focus on an information technology related problem requiring some web-based solution.
You will then undertake a major research project, supervised by faculty staff, many of whom are internationally recognised experts in their field.

Assessment methods reflect the emphasis of the course on the student's ability to apply knowledge and skills to the relevant domain. Variety is key and students can expect assessment via presentation, modelling and design rationale, research paper, critical essay, demonstration, prototype product, research/ laboratory exercises, project/ research outcomes and, of course, the Dissertation.
