课程特征 Course Features:

Give your career the best possible start with the latest thinking in comparative international management and put your learning into practice with our unique client facing project. This course focuses on real international business issues and how to solve them. Unlike other masters courses that also focus on fields of international business studies, this course puts emphasis on the exploration of implications of divergent international arenas to multinational firms in a comparative manner.

The MBus Global Business Analysis course is a unique interdisciplinary degree focusing on the latest thinking in comparative international management.  You explore the operation of multinational enterprises and undertake comparative business analysis, while gaining the practical skills necessary to work efficiently in an international business environment.

Alongside a thorough understanding of business analysis and development, you graduate with the key skills of international business consulting, such as framing international business problems, writing business reports and preparing for interviews.

The inclusion of modules on global politics, technology and innovation helps you put your learning into a wider context.  Following completion of semester two, you have the opportunity to apply your learning to real business problems through a client-facing project within an external client organisation, giving you valuable experience and generating excellent networking opportunities.

课程内容 Course Content :

The course consists of both compulsory and optional taught units.  The compulsory units are built around the problems of international management, the operation of multinational enterprises, comparative business analysis and the skills necessary to work efficiently in a international business environment.  The optional courses allow you to specialise in particular aspects of international management and business analysis.

Compulsory course units include: Managing Across Competing Capitalisms; Global Politics and Global Business; Analysing Companies: Business Models, Narrative and Numbers; and Designing Organisations: An International Perspective. Optional course units include: The Analysis of Business Structures; Technology, Innovation Management and Business Strategy; The Management of International Organisational Change; Doing Business in Europe; and International Capital and Trade Flows.

During the summer period, you will have the opportunity to apply the knowledge and skills learnt during the first two semesters, enhance your skills while working with a major real life client and work as part of a team. The result of this project is presented as a research report/dissertation.  This part of the course is closely related to the Manchester Method that enables you to experience experiential learning and helps you to become a reflective practitioner or manager.

Alternatively, you may undertake an academic dissertation on a subject of your choice.  Your supervisor will help you to define the scope of the research and advise, guide and support you through the process. Individual dissertations are about 12,000 words.

教学与评估 Teaching and Assessment:

Most course units are assessed 50 per cent coursework and 50 per cent by examination. Many of the course units utilise case studies and you will be required to give presentations as part of your coursework.  The dissertation normally ranges between 12,000 and 25,000 words.
