Full time: An upper-second-class Honours degree, or an international equivalent, in civil engineering or geology is preferred; other degrees are considered, as is work experience.

This programme, accredited by the Joint Board of Moderators (Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE), Institution of Structural Engineers (IStructE), Institution of Highways and Transportation (IHT), develops the skills of graduate Earth scientists and allied professionals to meet the needs and requirements of the extractive industries, consultants and contractors, and other branches of civil engineering, and to satisfy the national and international demand for specialist engineering geologists with advanced training in geotechnical engineering.
课程内容Course Content:
You take compulsory modules (90 credits), followed by a research project written up as a dissertation (90 credits). The compulsory modules cover: rock engineering; geomechanics; research methods for engineers; geotechnical design; ground investigation - design principles and practice; field class; groundwater assessment; engineering and applied geology; contaminated land. A full range of teaching methods is used including lectures, tutorials, seminars, open learning, group projects, computing workshops, laboratory and fieldwork, and site visits. Assessment is by formal written examinations, course work, a dissertation, and oral and poster presentations. A programme of weekly seminars is provided by prominent visitors from the construction industry in the first term. All modules are taught in blocks of one or two weeks.
