Our programme in International Journalism combines explorations of the practice of journalism and related legal, political and ethical concerns, with a theoretical perspective firmly rooted in communications studies. It is designed for students who wish to study journalism at the MA level, perhaps for the first time, or graduates who have a professional background in journalism, and who wish to engage with new perspectives on their subject and develop expertise in the extensive body of research into the nature of journalism and its social role. Optional modules allow students to develop their understandings of journalism further from the perspectives of globalization, social philosophy, international relations, political science, and other fields.

Journalism: professional practice, ethics and democracy
Journalism: theory into practice.
Two option modules from the range offered in a particular academic year.
Students will also study research methods and write a dissertation
教学方法 Teaching Methods：
The programme uses a variety of student-centred learning methods designed to promote a research orientation within the group. Core courses will use lectures and student-led seminars with group tasks within which students will make use of the full range of information sources to collaboratively develop knowledge and skills. The practical/professional module combines lectures, small group teaching and workshop sessions. Optional modules will make use of a variety of methods appropriate to those topics. Simulations and role playing exercises will be used along with student led discussions.
The dissertation module will include a compulsory research-training element. Supervision of dissertations will be carried out by the academic staff of the Institute, and students are assigned to supervisor in December.
