Offers a combination of specialist skills in the history of science communication and in contemporary communications research, giving a uniquely wide perspective.
Provides teaching by a wide range of staff on both historical and contemporary sides, with at least seven staff available to supervise essays and research.
Provides a historical perspective on science communication, highly relevant at a time when there is a developing public interest in the history of science. Serves the needs of those wishing to go into science communication professionally by offering a qualification accredited by the Association of British Science Writers.
Provides possibilities for work-based learning opportunities at nationally important museums in the locality, including the National Museum of Film, Television, and Photography (Bradford), with whom the university has signed a concordat , and the Thackray Medical Museum (Leeds).
