课程特征 Course Features:
The programme is a comprehensive and intensive investigation into key areas in accounting and finance. Designed for those with a quantitative background, it is both academically rigorous and closely in line with professional practice.
It is especially useful for those graduates with work experience in accounting looking to gain essential practical skills in finance - and, of course, vice versa. Although the compulsory core courses ensure a good balance between both accounting and finance study, the option courses give students the opportunity to specialise - tailoring their studies towards their chosen career.
The University of Edinburgh Business School is recognised as a partner institution by the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA©) Institute. This means that the MSc in Accounting and Finance is judged by the Institute as covering in some way at least 70 per cent of the CFA curriculum. The degree will therefore assist those who choose to study for the CFA qualification.
As a CFA Program Partner we are also required to teach a module on ethics and standards of professional practice. This will be done via workshops that will comprise a combination of lecture material, case studies, group discussion and guest lectures.
课程内容 Course Content :
The taught component of the programme consists of eight courses in total, four in the first semester and four in the second semester. These are the foundation upon which the whole MSc is built and ensures a common basis of knowledge across the different areas.
In Semester 2, you also begin to tailor your studies towards your career interests, through the selection of one or two option courses.
Finally, your MSc dissertation brings all this learning together in a piece of work unique to each student.

职业展望 Career Prospects:
Graduates from the MSc in Accounting and Finance will typically pursue a career in the accounting profession, in academic accounting, investment and security analysis, portfolio management, corporate finance and corporate restructuring, or in regulating bodies requiring an in-depth understanding of accounting and finance.
The programme is as much academic as it is vocational. That means it is also good preparation for further research at PhD level.
