Applicants with a first or upper-second class bachelor or postgraduate degree in a discipline other than law. Applicants will normally be required to demonstrate their ability to undertake advanced study in law, either through a strong academic record and/or relevant work experience.

The programme aims to equip students with the specialist knowledge and skills they require to succeed as professionals, scholars and leaders in the fields of international law and international relations. LLM International Law and World Order features a combination of compulsory and optional modules, providing flexibility and allowing you to tailor this programme to meet your own interests and ambitions. Modules on offer include international development law, international economic law , international law and terrorism and the Use of Military Force in International Law - all highly pertinent in today's globalised world.
As well as specific knowledge of international law and international relations, this programme will develop your ability to think both analytically and critically and to produce reasoned arguments encompassing policy, existing practice and knowledge at an advanced level. It will also develop your practical transferable skills, including the ability to conduct independent research, both online and offline; time management, verbal and written communication, presenting and planning.

LLM International Law and World Order features compulsory and optional modules spanning a broad range of areas. A total of 180 credits must be completed, with taught modules accounting for 120 credits and a dissertation for the remaining 60 credits.

Optional modules
Students must enrol in optional modules totalling 70 credits. Of these, at least 40 credits of Optional modules must be chosen from within the Law School and at least 10 credits must come from modules related to international law and world order. The remaining 30 credits may be chosen from optional modules run by the Graduate Institute in Politics and International Studies.
