The integration of computers, communications and electronics is now being realised. Their use will profoundly affect the way in which we learn, work and use our leisure time. Distance learning, home employment, remote manufacturing and tele-surgery are but a few of the opportunities offered by the information superhighway and its multimedia infrastructure.
This programme aims to introduce you to the most important aspects of networked applications and digital media information. Graduates will be equipped for a wide variety of employment in computing, business and the entertainment industry, and will have the opportunity to be leaders of the media revolution and its emerging technologies.
The programme will also give you the knowledge and experience to continue studying for a PhD, or to enter a career in research

Programme Structure
In the introductory week you will take a programming proficiency test and will be placed in either an 'experienced' stream or a 'foundation' stream.
First Semester
Students on both streams must complete four core units:
•Advanced Computer Graphics
•Character and Set Design
•Computer Graphics
•Mobile and Ubiquitous Computing
Students on the foundation stream must complete one additional core unit:
•Programming in C
and students on the experienced stream must complete two additional core units:
•Algorithmic and Economic Aspects of the Internet
•Law and IT
Second Semester
During the second semester, students on both streams must complete one core unit:
•Project Specification and Design
Plus four units from a range of options:
•Databases
•Image Processing and Computer Vision
•Object-Oriented Programming with Java
•Server Software
•Web Technologies
Summer
You must complete a final MSc project which consists of researching, planning and implementing a major piece of work. The project must contain a significant scientific or technical component and will usually involve a software development component. This is usually submitted by the end of September.
