课程特征 Course Features:
As mission-critical systems become more and more distributed and embedded in society so does the complexity and consequences when they fail. Only by understanding the full interdisciplinary mix of software and distributed systems and the social context in which they are deployed, will mission-critical systems work effectively and reliably. This course builds on Lancaster's long-standing reputation in the field of software engineering, combining cutting-edge software engineeringpractices with more human-centred sociologically derived modes of requirements capture and design. The course provides hands-on expertise in the use of advanced software modularity mechanisms such as aspect-oriented software development. Students following this pathway build on the same fundamentals, plus System Dependability and Network and System Security modules, and an elective. The dissertation research topic is in a complementary software engineering area.
课程内容 Course Content :
The courses run in "block mode" with each module block consisting of one week intensive classroom contact, followed by coursework to be completed in your own time. This format is especially suitable whether you are a full-time student spending a year on campus or a part-time student undertaking this course while working in industry.
Students are required to complete six from the twelve available taught modules, plus a project dissertation and a self study research methods module. Industrial projects are often available allowing students to gain valuable experience of commercially driven projects.
Your module choices will depend on the route you wish to take through the programme but this can be decided after registration.
