课程特征 Course Features:
A course developed in response to demands from the employment market and the growing career opportunities in the information technology (IT) security field. More so than ever today any organisation’s critical work systems are inextricably linked to the network technology that supports them. The growth of the internet and mobile industries as IT environments for commercial transaction and information exchange has placed additional burdens on IT teams in organisations, requiring that network and security specialists be aware both of the infrastructure of the internet and mobile networks as well as the enabling internet and mobile technologies. The deployment of software systems on intranets, extranets and the internet is now in significant demand in the computing field. Technicians and IT managers must have the higher skills to analyse and protect the environment in which these systems exist.
课程内容 Course Content :
We start with an intensive Induction period to bring your academic study and research skills up to postgraduate standard before embarking on a range of taught modules designed to equip you with the right knowledge and abilities for careers in the IT security arena:
• Cryptographic and biometric methods for enhanced IT security
• Network security and management
• Modelling methods for systems development
• Methods for handling large-scale IT projects and change
• Issues around web and network services management
• Professional issues and research methods
• An in-company, multidisciplinary-based team project (relevant to IT security)
You will then undertake a major research project, supervised by faculty staff, many of whom are internationally recognised experts in their field.
A Master's award requires 180 Master's credits, which would normally take one calendar year full-time study. Interim awards are available at Postgraduate Certificate level or Postgraduate Diploma level should you decide to exit the course early.
